Well, here we are—my first post on a blog that doesn’t need to be here, but I need it to be. I’m calling it a “phlog” because it’s a silly portmanteau, and it’s fitting for what I want to do here. This is more of a messy, creative detour than a perfectly crafted road. A little bit of photos, a little bit of gear talk, and a whole lot of waxing poetic about whatever’s bouncing around in my brain.
I spent 13 years in the commercial photography world—flash, strobes, deadlines, clients who don’t understand how light works. A lot of shooting, a lot of “getting the shot,” but somewhere along the way I lost sight of what it actually meant to create something, rather than just execute it. Sometimes life decides to pull the rug out from under you, and well… here I am, finding my way back to what I really want to shoot.
This blog is an experiment. A space to share my photos. A place to talk about gear. And, occasionally, a place to muse on art and creativity.
What to Expect:
Photos: Not sure what you’ll see here. But it will be an exploration.
Gear Talk: This will be sporadic, but I love the gear and sharing my perspective
Creative Ramblings: A bit of reflection, a bit of nostalgia, and probably a lot of overthinking about what it means to create.
About Me
I spent 13 years in commercial photography. But now? This phlog is about getting back to creating for the sake of creating—challenging myself to make things that matter to me.
